I'm unable to install HP Laser Jet 1020 Plus Drivers? Error Installation Failed!

Hello HP!

I'm unable to to install my printer drivers for HP Laser Jet 1020 Plus on my Windows 10 Pro (64-bit).

I uninstalled the drivers because my printer wasn't printing anything so I decided to uninstall the drivers and reinstall it but the installation process stops with this error message: 

The printer installation failed. Please try the following steps after you click Close.

1. Ensure the USB cable is disconnected from the printer.
2. Turn the printer off, then on.
3. Rerun the CD install software.

I have already done all the steps mentioned above but nothing worked for me .

Any Ideas?

Hi,

Is the printer powered on and connected to your PC?

Ensure the USB cable is directly connected to a port on the back of your PC..not through any USB hub, extension, etc.

Also, try plugging the USB to another port and check for any change,

If the same error persists, I suggest trying another USB cable and then check for any difference.

Thank you so much for your reply but I already figured out this error. 

I went to Device Manager and uninstalled the USB port of my printer from Universal Serial Bus Controller and restarted my PC 

and I tried to re-install the drivers again and everything worked fine.  The drivers already recognized the port so I had to uninstall it. 🙂
