Indestructible HP 4050n - outlived 3 computers!

New computer (to me) is macOS Mojave, which I wish to use the HP 4050n printer.

Can it be done?

Thanks!

You can use USB & Network at the same time on HP 4050 for sure.

USB can be connected to only one PC at a time but Network can be used for many PCs.

You must have your own reason...........

You need to use HP Jetdirect card 610n/615n/620n..... to work through network it should work.

Or you can buy a line with USB<->Lpt(parallel)  it'll work too.

Thanks for the reply!

I currently have an HP Jetdirect 600n installed on the HP printer to print (via ethernet) from PC network, which works great.  In my review of the HP Jetdirect 610n/615n/620n - they too only have (1) Ethernet port.

In researching - could I use USB 3.0 device (mac computer) to an <-> Ethernet port to couple to an existing network?  Or should I use your suggested USB - Lpt (parallel) cable to directly couple from HP printer to mac USB?

I am assuming that both coupled lines to the Ethernet can be used as they are from different sources (PC and Mac)?

I look forward to your response.  Thanks!

Coupled together both PC and Mac with HP 4050n via Ethernet - success!

I erred in my printer IP address.  Corrected and within a couple of minutes - I am printing from both computers.
