Hi @Om108,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how infuriating this issue feels. Your HP LaserJet Pro M1136 is constantly flickering between Ready → Offline → Ready, the print job bouncing between Transferring → Error, and you’ve already done every basic fix, even a full Windows reinstall. Let’s go deeper than the typical guides, and I’ll explain the real reasons this happens on the HP Laserjet M1136 series and how to fix it permanently.

STEP 1: Fully Remove Every Wrong Driver (Important!)

1 Unplug the USB cable

2 Go to:

Control Panel → Programs & Features

Uninstall all HP LaserJet entries.

3 Open Print Management

Press Win + R → type: printmanagement.msc

Go to: Print Servers → Your PC → Drivers

Delete ALL:

  • HP LaserJet M1130/M1132/M1136 drivers
  • HP Class Drivers
  • HP Universal Print drivers

4 Clear the spooler

Open CMD as admin and run:

net stop spooler

del /Q C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS\*

net start spooler

This eliminates the corrupt jobs causing looping.

STEP 2: Install the Correct HP Host-Based Driver

Do NOT use Windows Update drivers.

Official HP Driver (Host-Based):🔗 HP LaserJet Pro M1136 Multifunction Printer series | HP® Support

STEP 3: Plug the Printer into the Right USB Port

This is usually the CRITICAL FIX.

Use:

  • USB 2.0 port only (rear ports)
  • Short, shielded cable (not longer than 1.5m)
  • No hubs / no splitters

The M1136 struggles on USB 3.0 (blue) ports, causing those exact symptoms:
offline → ready → offline + print job errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
