Hello there:

Please note, although I didn't do it in the video. I have unplugged the printer before each install attempt, but to no avail the 2nd paper tray is never detected upon plugging and powering back up.
Is A8Z70A compatible with HP Officejet PRO 8600? If so, is it possible I have a defective unit?

Hi,
A8Z70A 2nd paper tray is not intended for the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (N911g) and will not be accepted by the printer.
The 8600 plus is compatible with the CN548A HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer 250-sheet Paper Tray only as listed by its specifications below:

The HP Officejet Pro 250 Paper Tray (A8Z70A) is intended for the Officejet Pro 8610/8620 models only:
