HP LJ 4050 has paper in tray 2 but printer says it's empty. Any ideas?

Either the tray is not lifting properly or the sensor in the tray cavity is not working. Easiest way to see is to turn printer around so you can look from the back of the printer into the printer cavity and ensure that the paper is being lifted into position when the tray is inserted. A flashlight helps. If the paper is lifted then either the sensor has failed for the trigger for the sensor is broken.

Thanks Repairatrooper. I see the tray lifting. Could you guide me where the trigger for the sensor is? Thanks.

If you look in the paper drawer cavity you will see a black level in the middle of the tray. This lever is pushed up by the rising paper and trips sensor PS101. If that sensor is bad or the lever is broken this error will be generated.
