HP LasterJet P1102w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm having an issue with printing labels from Word 2010 since the Microsoft Windows Fall Creator Update v.1709.  Basically labels don't print from Word at all.  Not sure if it's a printer issue or if it's an Office issue.

I printed labels for Christmas cards at the end of November - no problem.  Windows Fall Creator Update was on 12-10-17.  Since then I've been unable to print any labels from Word.

I can print the following:

Documents out of Word

Excel Spreadsheets

Labels from PDF from sites like Etsy, eBay, Paypal and USPS

Nothing happens when I go to print labels from Word.  The little printer icon at the bottom shows that there is nothing in the queue.  The orange light starts flashing when I try to print labels from Word.  I don't get any error messages at all.  I'm using it with a USB cable - not wireless.  I've tried printing labels from Word that I've saved on a label template and I've tried printing off a new label template.  Neither work.

Since I can print other things I'm thinking it's not an actual printer issue but I thought I would try to get any thoughts from here since the Microsoft Community boards haven't really helped me.

Any suggestions?  I haven't yet tried uninstalling then reinstalling my printer.  That's my next step.

Thanks!!

@PhotoJoanie

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out!

As I understand the printer isn't printing labels from word, although, everything else prints fine,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you reinstall the drivers/software from root level to avoid the issue? (This is a driver issue, that could be corrupt after the update)

Have you considered using the Windows built-in drivers?

While you respond to that, here's what I recommend you do:

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.

If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:

If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.

   NOTE:

Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.

See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hi, any other suggestions?

It's been 6 months since I've needed to print labels (no problems), and since yesterday I haven't been able to print them at all--not even an incorrect print, just no printing at all.   I followed the advice given here with no success, so I completely uninstalled my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M277 PCL 6  and HP software from all computers on the network and reinstalled it, first with the Microsoft driver, with no success, then with the driver and complete software from the HP website.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro, Microsoft Office 2013 on some computers and Microsoft Office 365 on another.  The "See What's Printing" box shows the document printing only for an instant, and then the printer gives a message about needing to manually feed the paper.  I apply paper to the manual feeder, click "Ok," but the message on the display window remains, and nothing prints.  Have to click "Cancel."  All other word documents print fine, just not the labels.

Please help, thank you!

Hi Darya1 -

When I was having problems earlier and started this thread I couldn't get things to work.  I talked to my tech people that I use for my computers.  They told me to use Revo uninstaller so I did - did a restart - then reinstalled the most current drivers for my printer for my current version of Windows.  That seemed to work for me.  I can now print labels again.

There's a free version of Revo Uninstaller - which is what I used.  But there is a pro one that you can do a trial run.  The pro version is one you normally would have to pay for after the free trial.  The link is below.  You could try using that then try reinstalling it again.

https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Hope that helps you some.  Otherwise try to call a local computer repair place and see if they'll answer your question without you having to bring it in.

Thank you, PhotoJoanie.

So you're thinking that the printer and driver weren't completely uninstalled?

I will try Revo this weekend and let you know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi Darya1 -

It's a possibility.  When I was having trouble and I just used the uninstall through Windows it still didn't work when I reinstalled my printer driver.

Revo goes a little deeper in the uninstall process.  There are no guarantees on anything with technology if one thing works for someone that it will work for everyone else.  All you can do is try.  I know it's frustrating.

Hope it works!  Just make sure you get the most current drivers for your printer off the HP site.  Make sure it's for the correct Windows version you have.
