HP Laserjet Pro M125a
Windows XP

Hi everyone.
Today I bought new printer. I wanted instal this printer on my old pc with Win xp but during installation appears window with warning " software for this device: "printer" has not passed compatibility testing with windows xp system". Nonetheless installation is going to end. After all I can only copy and scan. When I try print something, it looks as if the print process is working, nothing happens and there isn't list of not printed items. I have installed printer on my laptops with Win 7 and Win 8.1 and everything is fine.

Sorry for my grammatical mistakes. I have to translate this from polish 🙂
I hope someone can help me solve this issue. A lost all day to find any solutions ;/

Regards
Karol

Hi @Karol_szc ,

I see that you are experiencing issues installing the printer on the Windows XP computer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.

I have provided a document to check your system to make sure if does meet the system requirements.

Windows XP: 'Your System Does Not Meet the Minimum System Requirements' Message Displays on the Comp...

Check your version of .Netframeworks. How to Check Which Version of Microsoft .NET Framework is Installed in Windows?

Run the Windows updates to get the most up to date one installed.

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

IE is integrated into Windows and is part of the Windows updates.

I suspect you need IE 7 at least. I believe this is because HP software piggy backs from Internet Explorer.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Happy New Years!
Thank You.

Hello,

I also have issues with the HP MFP M125a printer on Windows XP SP3. Although I installed it localy without any problems and it's printing fine connected by USB cable, it doesn't print in network when the printer is shared and visible by other computers. When I try to print the test page there is an information that it couldn't be done, and when I try to print some documents they just disappear in network, there is even no error or waiting documents. What can be done in this case? The system is Windows XP SP3 in all network and all latest updates are installed including frameworks 3,5 and 4. As I said earlier printer works fine connected by USB, but the problem is only with sharing it in the network. Ofcourse the computer which works as a printer server is always on.

Hi @tornado21,

I see by your post that you are having issues sharing the printer by a USB connection over the network. I would like to help you.

HP does not support peer-to-peer networking, as the feature is a function of Microsoft operating systems and not of the HP printer drivers. You should be able to print and scan through the shared printer. Here is a document available though for setting up printer sharing, you can take a look at. How to Share a USB Printer.

If you are having any issues, please go to Microsoft at www.microsoft.com for more information.

I also experienced the same thing with @ tornado21. The printer is installed on a computer with the operating system windows xp sp3. I've done the instructions given @ gemini02 to share the printer. From the computer with the operating system Windows 7 I managed to do a print from the network, but from the windows xp sp3 failed. Exactly as it says @ tornado21.

windows xp that I use:
windows xp sp3 with net framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. I have 7 this type of printer and installed in 7 different computer. All have the same problem.

Please help for this.

I bought another HP m125a printer and the problem is still the same, no new drivers to fix this. I have an idea that I'll buy a print server with USB/LAN interface and try to install it this way in my company network, but this print server I tested doesn't support that printer model. Could you please tell me wich print server model is compatible with this printer?
