I know, XP, who still works with XP. Unfortunately this one company still does because the software they are using will not work on any newer Windows OS.
OS - Windows XP 32 bit
PC - Dell Optiplex
Printer - HP LaserJet P3005N
Printer Cable - Brand new (purchased 8/13/18)
I downloaded the printer drivers from HP website for 32 bit drivers (PCL5 and PCL6 and Post Script)
I plugged the printer in an the New Hardware found message came up.
I went through the wizard (several times , to see which driver will work).
I do not remember which print driver I installed first and when that did not work, i tried the second one and then the third one. and retried each one at least 2 more times. I tried by adding the printer throught Printers and Faxes/add printer and by plugging the printer in and waiting for New Hardware found message appeared.
One time (and I don't remember if which printer driver it was) the driver was installed, did a test page but it did not print out. The Test page went into the printer queue and then it was gone like it went to the printer but nothing printed out.
I have printer out the configuration page so I know the printer does print from the printer. The printer did work on an XP machine last year however the printer has gone to a different user/computer.
Any ideas as to how I can get this printer installed and working.
Thanks in advance.

You might made a mistake connecting the printer with PC before installing driver.
I would uninstall all HP P3005 related driver from the computer and remove all earlier installed P3005 printers. Then dowlnoad PCL6 driver from HP, start a new installation and wait for installation process prompts you to connect a printer, not before.
Installation on XP should be done in like 1 minute if the printer and computer are working correctly.

Thanks for your response. I am going to give it a try later this morning/early afternoon.
I know at one time I did install one of the drivers without the cable connected but not 100% sure which driver, and I still was not able to connect.
