Oh please can anyone help?! Spent 3 hours on the phone today, 2 with tech, the rest with post sales getting a refund and pre sales who were meant to be calling me back with a list of printers that can do what I need, but firstly didn't, so I called again and she promised she'd call before COB and again didn't! Massively unproductive day. OK rant over.
So I bought the above and it does everything I need EXCEPT I want to stand at the printer and scan as a pdf to the printer. My Old OfficeJetPro 8600 I stood there, selected scan, it would as if scan to PC / Email ./ USB / Fax etc. I'd say PC and scanned and it sent it to my PC folder on dropbox and opened the pdf automatically.
The LaserJet seems to not scan like this unless it is connected to a network folder, which tech couldn't seem to set up. It only want to use Windows scan and fax which is a JPEG - no good to me.
It really can't be that complicated and I am sure it is possible. Tried uninstalling etc and all the drivers on the HP website but nothing has worked.
Can anyone help me????
Glenda

Hi Glenda,
HP Laserjet printers do not offer direct scanning to a computer as HP Inkjet Printers offer, scanning to a Computer can only be done from the HP Scan software itself and not from the printer front panel.
You may find the User Manual below, any supported scan method is listed (See the Scan section in page v):
http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c04636804-2.pdf
You may scan through the HP Software from your PC only, from the front panel you may only scan to a USB Flash drive, a Shared Network folder, an Email server, both Email or a Network Folder scanning are only offered for a network connected device.

Shlomi

You can setup scan to e-mail and scan to share both on the HP laser printers using the unit's ip address. For example
Type
//192.168.1.x (where x represent the unique 4th octet in your printers IP) and then go to the scan tab, and from the scan tap you can setup these features. You cannot setup these features from the printer itself.
This tested and works on a MFP 477FDN (laser printer and not wireless) (I can scan to both a network share, and my e-mail address).
