p1102w
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I tried to find information on how to deal with it and I got this:

On the Windows computer, go to start, computer, right click the CD for the printer
and left click open in new window, go to util/siutility.exe/HP Smart Install Utility/
printer or PC - select printer/click disable.

The thing is: There is nothing (even when showing hidden files) named util. So I could not disable this thing! Can anybody help? I also do not have access to the printer via IP for it is not connected to anything.

Hi! @Yandiro, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand that your printer is not working on OSX 10.12 sierra.

Don't worry I'd like to help.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps before reaching out to us.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your printer?

Please install the printer driver using the apple update and check if it helps.

Please try the steps recommended below.

To install the HP driver through Apple Software Update, create a new print queue on the Mac.
Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.
Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.
Check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.    Do one of the following steps, depending on if the printer is listed or not.
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, then click the minus sign to delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.
If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected to the Mac with a USB cable, or that it is on the same wired or wireless network on your Mac. See the Frequently asked questions in this document to resolve connection issues, try to add the printer again, then continue to the next step.
Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.
Selecting a Generic driver option from the Use menu can result in limited printer functionality.
Click Add to add the printer to the list.
If you are prompted to install software, click Download and Install to complete the installation.
If ‘Software is currently unavailable’ displays, click Cancel, then go to Printer and scanner software for MacOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and Mavericks (in English). If your printer is supported, go to HP Printer Drivers for MacOS and OS X Mavericks and later (in English) or HP Printer Drivers for OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion (in English) to try manually installing the drivers.
Close the System Preferences window.
Try to print, scan, or fax, depending on your printer functionality.
If you can print, scan, or fax, you installed the driver and can now use your printer.
If you cannot print, scan, or fax, see the Frequently asked questions on scanning issues and methods, driver support information, and to troubleshoot printer connection issues.

Refer this article to know further information about installing printer driver using apple update.

If the issue still persists, Please update the printer driver to 5.0 from apple website directly and check if it helps.

Let me know if this works!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

I could install it, finally!

I had to download a 500MB patch, tho. Personally I find this insane!

Thanks!

I'm a first time poster. I've spent more than 6 hours trying to get my P1102w to work with Sienna 10.12.6 and after trying all the possible remedies I still can't use my printer - a printer that was working completely fine.  I urge Apple

and HP to work together to improve the lives of their customers because this shouldn't be so hard.

My MacPro is recognizing the P1102w as a scanner and software installation failed.  I've deleted all my printers.

I've tried adding + P1100, I've bought a new USB cord, I've downloaded new driversn and no luck.  At this point I might as well buy a new printer and it won't be an HP.

But before I throw it out the window I would be interested in hearing suggestions from HP employees or forum members.

Thank you.

I had same problem.

Printer: LaserJet Pro P1102

OS: Mac OS 12.12.6

Solutions from this forum didn't help me.

When I add printer in System Preference -> Printers. Printer seens as scan. And can't install software.

Then I did next steps:

1. Delete Printer

2. Download and install driver https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US

3. Update printer firmware http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL32545/bi-95187-7/LJP1100_P1560_P1600_FW_Upgrade_Security...

4. Reboot printer and computer

5. Download and install HP Smart software https://123.hp.com/us/en/devices/laserjet-pagewide/downloading

6. Run HP Smart and add your printer.

It's helped me and printer HP LaserJet Pro P1102 works in Mac OS Sierra 12.12.6.
