LaserJet 1160Le
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

I just inherited the above-named printer from a friend (LaserJet 1160Le). It hasn't been used in years and the previous owner doesn't even remember how long it's been. It appears to have TWO printing problems:

  1. Smudgy horizontal streaks across the page
  2. Double images

I realize the toner cartridge may have dried up and probably needs to be replaced anyway, but before I go to the expense of doing that, I wanted to check first and see if there are any other possible causes/solutions for these problems. If any other information or a sample of the output is needed, I'll gladly provide it. Thank you in advance.

Cheers!

If the Toner smears when you rub it with your hand then the Fuser is defective, if it does not smear then you probably need a Toner Cartridge.

If my post resolves your issue please click the accepted as solution button under it.

The toner cartridge does not have to be dried up but it is aged and went bad needed to be replaced.

Thank you for your response. I went ahead and replaced the toner cartridge. Although it's definitely not as bad as before, the symptoms still exist.

Can you think of anything else that might be causing the problem that I could look at? Thank you in advance.

Regards,

If you see the defects at exactly the same place and same width then it's the fuser or else you have two bad toner cartridges.
