Laserjet P3015

Getting a 13.05.00 fault on a P3015 (P3010 series) printer when printing out of tray 3. Printer has done 211.423 prints.

Paper is stuck and folded underneath the toner cartridge and sometimes underneath the grey plate thats just in front of the transferroller assembly.

I cleaned the printer, replaced the toner cartridge (always had originals in them), replaced fuser, paper pickup roller tray 3, seperation pad tray 3 and transferroller assembly. Still no fix.

Anyone have any idea? The printer is running in a network and we are using HP Universal Printing PCL 6, version 5.9.0 drivers on almost all of our 85 printers without issue.

Could be an issue with the paper pickup assembly.  They are known to have issue and most times the printer will make a funny noise as the paper is moving thru and also the movement will not be constant. Also you sometimes get 2 black marks on the back of the paper.  Replacing the part is one of the worst jobs you can get.  Very, very hard.  I usually just remove the black cover over the item located above the tray 2 assembly and then try to clean up the 2 black rollers and I also try to increase the spring tension of the 2 white plastic rollers on the black cover I removed.  It sometimes helps.  Also check the paper out flag a little to the right of the pickup roller.  It sometimes gets knocked out of position by the back of the tray hitting it when not inserted correctly and is usually bent to the right side.  It not straight (compare with tray 2) then slowly and gently bend it back.  If you do it slowly and a little at a time you will not break the assemby.

I checked the little black 'paper out' flags on the righthandside of the paper pickup roller on both trays and both are perfectly straight.

I swapped tray 2 and tray 3 for now to see if that solves anything. If that doesn't help, I still have a 500-sheet loader somewhere so could swap the entire tray 3 unit instead of just the tray.

Also, no black marks on the rear of the paper like you said. I'm not sure what you mean with the following

What I was referring to is the paper pickup assesmbly to which those 2 black rollers are included.  That complete assembly is almost impossible to replace so if it is the problem I would just junk the unit.

Aha, I see. I grabbed a P3015 500-sheet loader to check it out. Seems pretty easy to replace on a accesoire 500-sheet loader. And indeed a bit of a pain when its on tray 2.

EDIT: even the P3015 service manual doesn't seem to cover the replacement of the entire paper pickup assembly.

Update!

Same printer has just done this again, exact same issue. If it stays this way and it only does this once a year I'm fine with it 🙂

Oh, and it does now give the 2 black marks on the back of the paper every now and again. If it does it again I might just replace the pickuproller, see if that helps.
