iam_troy,

It won't allow me to post them on here. It keeps telling me to "please correct the erros and try again. There was an error while attempting to post your message. Try again in a few minutes.

The info from the setupapi.dev.log you posted is what I needed. Thansk for that.

There are 3 candidates for the driver to be installed.
prnhpcl3.inf - In-OS driver
hpc1520u.inf - HP Software Install driver
hpcu185u.inf - HP Universal Print driver(UPD)

It looks like the UPD is the one being selected.

We can remove the last two so only the in-OS one is on the system.

To do this, follow these steps

Start an Administrator command prompt by Right-Clicking on the Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
At the prompt run the following lines one at a time.

pnputil.exe -d oem78.inf
pnputil.exe -d oem17.inf
pnputil.exe -d hpc1520u.inf
pnputil.exe -d hpcu185u.inf

I am not sure if this is what you were trying to get but this is what it said:

C:\Users\Owner>pnputil.exe -d oem78.inf

C:\Users\Owner>pnputil.exe -d oem17.inf

The 1525 is not connected to the PC is it?

Is your other printer using the HP UPD driver?

I don't know how to view the driver. I went under properties and the only thing it listed for the HP 8600 under drivers was "HP 8600 driver"

As for the 1525 being connected, no it is no longer connected through the USB or the wireless.

Go ahead and delete the setupapi.dev.log again and then connect the printer.

After the printer installs see if you can print in color now.

If not, can you copy/paste the data from setupapi.dev.log similiarly as you did before?

Just to let you know, I'll be offline for a couple hours at an appointment, but I'll get back on and see where we're at afterwards.

Before doing the previous steps, can you try rebooting and then do the following

C:\Users\Owner>pnputil.exe -d oem78.inf

Okay, without doing the previous post, I did the reboot (duh...probably should have done that before, but I was trying to do too many things while I was doing this with you, too) and this is what it gave me:

I will go ahead and try to install the printer now while you are out and let you know what happens!

Spoiler
It failed...here is the list that you asked for.  Bummer!  I just knew it would work this time! I think it is just dead.  Poor thing.

It's still selecting the UPD since it's newer.

If it is still just printing in black only,  can you verify that the color toner cartridges are not low on toner? You can check this by using the control panel and going to the Reports Menu -> Supplies Status

You can also check that color is not turned off in the driver by right-clicking on the printer in Device and Printers in the control panel.

Select Printing Preferences and make sure that the Color option shows "Color".

Also check the Color tab and make sure Print in Grayscale is not selected.

If all of those are correct, can you download the newest UPD and install it?
