Hello.

I bought a secondhand-but-sealed 10A cartridge for this printer.  According to the manual, the shelf life of an unused cartridge is 2.5 years.  That's useful information, but it isn't, because I can't find a date of manufacture on the package.

I haven't opened the bag yet.  Might it be on the cartridge, or somewhere else?

And what happens if the cartridge is way over-age?

Thank you kindly.

The expiration date is usually on the box that contained the cartridge. Depending on how the toner was stored it could last 2.5 years or last 10 years. About the only thing that goes wrong with an expired toner is the wiper blade goes bad over time and you will usually find out within the first 50 pages printed. Since you have already purchased it I would use it as soon as possible to limit the possibility of the blade going bad.
