LaserJet P1102w
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I can't find a install for this product under this OS.

And even if I seem to install the printer (as Bonjour) I can't make it work.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the HP Community @xsiv,

I saw your post about the issues you're having with installing your LaserJet P1102W on 10.11, and wanted to respond to you with my suggestions and input. This model of printer does not have a full driver and software available with 10.11, therefor you will not be able to use any HP software to use the printer. However, you can try the steps below and you should be able to install the printer with an Apple Update.

  1. Reset the printing system
  2. Restart the Mac
  3. Follow this guide: HP Printers - Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update
  4. In addition, download this driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X

If there are any concerns, let me know!

Not working for me. My printer was fully functional recently - now all I get is the annoying "disk not recognised" message

I've installed the HP download several times - no drivers appear in my preferences

EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Same "disk is not recognized." Same model, on Mac Mini running El Capitan. Super annoying. Sometimes I can get printer to work, but the next time, the steps that worked previously don't work. Literally have about 25 pages bookmarked with tips that sometimes work. The printer works fine - I know that because sometimes I CAN get it to work. I used to really like this printer, but about to give up and buy a new one. And it will NOT be an HP printer, and I will never buy an HP printer again. (And my dad is an HP retiree!)

Absolutely with you on this.

The apathy from HP support (not to mention the annoying ranking messages) means I will probably avoid HP in future. But maybe they're not really manufacturing many printers any more, I notice the range has really shrunk.

I can still use my Deskjet with an older machine running Snow Leopard and I've bought a cheap Samsung which does the trick. Now how do I unsubscribe from this forum?

Well, after finally getting to the point where it would let me add printer, and HP 1102 showed up, now it says the software is not compatible. I'm at "give up" point and going to buy a Brother computer. I have wasted months/days/hours on this and I'm peeved that I have to buy another printer for nothing.
