So my printer recently started saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." whenever I plugged it in my laptop and I've tried printing a configuration page with no luck. Looking for assistance.

Hi @BDawgMcMayhem,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I do have a tested workaround for you that have helped in installing this printer on Mac Sierra.
Please perform the following steps to add the printer drivers from Mac OS update:
- Please download the Mac inbuilt drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2flF56z.
- From System Preferences, click on Print & Scan.
- Click the Plus sign.
- Select the listed LaserJet Professional P1100w (This printer's drivers should work).
- Click the drop-down menu next to Use or Print Using and click on Select Printer Software.
- Select the LaserJet Professional P1100w from the list.
- Click OK to confirm your selection and add the printer, then try printing using the configured print queue.
Keep me posted, how it goes!
If the information I've provided was helpful.
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

Hi @BDawgMcMayhem,
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
This is a great place to get support, find answers
I understand that you are unable to print.
No worries, I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
When was the last time you printed from the computer?
Is this a wireless or wired connection?
Are you able to make a copy?
Are you trying to install the software?
Eagerly waiting for the reply.
Cheers!

It's been a while since I've printed on it. many months in fact I'm afraid.
It is a wired connection.
It is not a copier.
I'm not sure what I need to do lol. I just plugged in my printer recently and it said that the disk was not readable.
Thanks Raj,
Braden

I am running macOS 10.4.4 on an iMac. I have a HP LaserJet Professional P1102, which has worked for years -- until recently, when the iMac started trying to mount the printer as a disk and then responding "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Disk Utility shows the printer as mounted as an external disc, "HP Smart Install Medium", with the error message window active.
Ejecting the HP Smart Install Medium disc by right-clicking or using the eject button in Disk Utility lead to it being attempted remounted as an external disk again after a fraction of a second, with the same error message displayed. This can be repeated ad infinitum.
Downloading http://hp.care/2flF56z and installing the HP printer drivers and following the instructions of 2018-15-01 by Raj1788 does not work: the printer is not listed as a printer (only as a scanner, which it is not and does not support) in the "Add" window after pressing the "+"-button. (Note that "HP Smart Install Medium" is listed as mounted in Disk Utility basically at all times the USB cable is connected to the iMac.)
