BTW: I'm curious about how I am supposed to mark a response Not Accept as a Solution. Seems the only two options are to Accept as Solution and give a thumbs-up/kudos. While I appreciate your suggesting an action for me to take, I'm frustrated that my followup response has gone unattended.

Update from my end:

After being told by numerous people that our printer was out of warranty, I spoke with HP.  I was able to troubleshoot with a guy who said that our printer was definitely broken and tried to sell us a new one.  Luckily, we were able to dig up our reciept which showed that our printer definitely WAS within warranty.

Of course at that point, they said that we didn't actually need a new printer.  We ran all of the tests they asked us to and provided all information.  They finally said that they would ship us a new ink cartridge - we were supposed to try that and if that didn't work, they would ship out a new printer.

They shipped out the wrong cartridge.  When I notified them via email, the support tech sent me a link to the support forums, and how to purchase extended care.  Livid, I called Support back.  There, I was transferred 4 times, and they found no documentation notes in our case.  And now, hours later, I think we're back to having them send a new cartridge.

Unacceptable, HP.

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, I just received notification today. Not sure what is up with that. I would really like to be able to help each and every one of you.

To inspect the drum, you just pull back the plastic guard to be able to see the one side of the drum, don't touch the drum or it will damage it, if there is any toner on it or damage, that would be causing the issue with the repeat dots down the page.

To rule out a toner issue, I would suggest to contact HP and inquire about a replacement toner. Black or Blue whichever you are getting the repeat marks down the page. Let them know that you are calling in about a in warranty accessory. I believe most of yous have said the toner was Genuine HP. Then if you are still having the same issue, the issue would be with the printer and would need to be serviced.

Most likely though it is the toner or there is something that marked the fuser inside the printer causing the repeat markings on the paper. I have seen in the past with labels stuck inside causing repeat marks down the page.

If you have any issues please let me know so I can help you further.

Hi @sjhgeary ,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

Thank You.

Thanks for replying. But I still am not able to inspect the entire drum. Is it possible to rotate the drum so  that I can see the entire surface?

Hi rdt-concord,

You can only check the part of the toner drum that is visible without damaging the toner.

As I had mentioned previously, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836 and inquire about a replacement toner. If you are still having the same issue it would be hardware related. Wow, talk about a run around.  I am having the same problems and very disappointed no one can seem to offer a viable solution and only the same canned responses over and over.

I have the same problem with my HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw.  My dots are approximately 3 inches from the left and about an inch apart all the way down the page.  I only use Genuine toner.  I have a mac and an IBM compatible both using it.  The PC has windows 10.  It looks like some roller has a spot on it and it keeps hitting the page.  We use this printer for a professional purpose and nothing looks more tacky than spots all over the page.  😞

Any suggestions.  We have had the printer for approximately 8 months.

I have the same issue with blue dots in the left-hand margin of every page.  Having difficulty getting this issue resolved.  Has anyone found a solution or do I simply need to abandon all hope for this new M277 laserjet printer?

Lets make this real simple. If the dots are in one color then the toner cartridge for that color is defective and needs to be replaced. How you get it replaced depends on your warranty status and how much time you want to take dealing with hp support which at times can be difficult. This is a user support forum and if you are under warranty then you should call hp customer care in your location.
