My laserjet P1102W prints wirelessly just fine, but reports an error every time.

Yes, I've reinstalled the latest setup software. Yes, I've tried print doctor, it didn't find anything.  Yes, I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers as of this date.  Yes, I tried the tool that's supposed to find he latest drivers, it didn't support this version.  Yes, I looked at the ethernet setup and it was fine --- I AM able to print like I said.

No, none of this worked.

I get the error message in the upper right corner of the screen every time I try to print.  All it says is that the printer cannot print the file.  Yes, this is coming from the print spooler.

So, what's next?

Hi @draythomp,

I see by your post that you are able to print over the wireless network, but you keep getting a error message "printer cannot print the file". You have updated the printer's software with the same results.  I can help you with this, but I will need some more information.

Does this error appear when printing from any application?

In the mean time, clear out the spool folder and restart the Print Spooler.

Did you also update the printer's firmware?

If not then I would update the firmware to see if that will help. Do this though by a USB connection.

Select your operating system, click next, click the link for firmware.

No, I did not update the firmware.  I followed your link and installed the firmware and the problem seems to have gone away.  I did not need to clear the spool directory, it was empty since the printter actually worked, just returned an error every time.

As I said in the subject line, Windows 8.1 OS, it's 64 bit.

Thank you.

OK - I have the same problem.  Downloaded and installed latest printer firmware and Windows 8.1 driver, cleared the print queue, ran the Windows printer problem solver which added the printer to the Homegroup and found no other problems.  None of this has resolved the original issue.  Attempt to print from any APP and get an error message that it can't print the file, but the file prints correctly.  Anyone have a solution that works?
