The printer stopped working a few nights ago with the blinking amber exclamation point, I ordered a new HP toner cartridge and installed it tonight, the blinking exclamation point still on.

Hi @BlackDawg
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand that your printer is showing a blinking amber Exclamation light, even after installing a new HP toner cartridge.Dont worry I’ll be glad to help you with this.
Could you kindly confirm do you see an error code or message in the HP app, such as Error 75?
- Is the printer connected to Wi-Fi with an active internet connection?
- Was the printer working normally with the previous toner cartridge before the light started blinking?
Meanwhile, kindly try these steps and confirm :
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect it directly to a wall outlet and turn the printer back on. HP recommends this power reset for clearing temporary printer or cartridge detection conditions.
- Remove the toner cartridge, make sure all protective/packing material has been removed, gently rock the cartridge from side to side, and reinstall it firmly.
- Check the cartridge's metal/gold contact chip for toner, dirt, scratches, or visible damage. If needed, gently clean it with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
- If this is the M140we, kindly make sure the printer is connected to the internet and shows as online in the HP app.

The blinking amber exclamation light means the printer needs attention. Since replacing the toner did not clear it, the condition might be related to how the cartridge is seated or detected, its contact chip, or, on the M140we in the Error 75 scenario, the printer's internet connection used for toner verification.
I hope this helps.
