M15w Laserjet
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Upon switching routers I've lost access to my M15w printer over wifi. I have looked all over and have not found a solution to my problem. The instructions in the guide do not help, a) because my printer is not connected to a valid network any longer, b) even when hooked up by USB I need some user name/password.

I have attempted to use EasyStart and HPSmart to connect, but to no avail. Both require some factory-set default password which is supposedly on the back of my printer ... only it's not.

I would be thrilled to get some help as this has become quite frustrating! 🙂

If you want to factory reset printer that will probably reset the password.

Turn the printer OFF, press and hold resume/cancel button turn printer ON, keep resume/cancel button pressed all the time for 20 seconds. That will reset the printer.

I've done that. The network settings are reset, but there is still some "factory password" needed to access the EWS/to connect the printer in the first place.

I don't get it, that should do the trick,

Is your printer connected to your local wireless?

Can you print screen and post here where are you asked for a password?

I cannot connect it to the wireless network and the reset removed it from the "old network". I've tried accessing it via WiFi Direct as well and the same sort of issue comes up (see the attached image).

Press and hold the resume/cancel button until ready starts to blink, the printer should print network status page and on the sheet should be wi-fi direct password.

It printed out an error report saying "No data in NVRAM debug file"

You are doing something wrong or your printer got crazy.

After several attempts it printed out the sheet.

The wifi direct password it prints out is for connecting to the printer via WiFi, not for accessing the EWS (the same password does not work).

Any other suggestions? Otherwise I'm looking at returning this as it's still under warranty. This situation is utterly ridiculous; I'm locked out of the printer's admin panel without any way of resetting the EWS password.
