Yea it looks like I'll have tor replace both the formatter and dc controller to to change it from a fdn to a fdw so ill just run a cable under the house to connect it.

Yes, it will.
With a HP Wireless PC Board Assembly Antenna Card (HP PN: 0960-3295) HP M477 fdn will turn to be a M477fdw.
These two pictures are from eBay.
I'v been using HP P1102w's wireless board onto HP CM1415fn and it works making it become HP CM1415fnw.
Why i'm useing HP P1102w is because P1102w is more easier to be got.

I installed Wireless PCA (M377, M477fnw/fdw) 1150-7967 / the part you replied with is for the M452 0960-3295 is it the correct pcb? and of course I upgraded the firmware updated the driver but even with the printer not connected to the pc there is no wireless in the network menu or anywhere else in the menu

I have the correct one installed but the printer just wont see it. been looking for a solution but no luck. I'm thinking that either the formatter needs to be replaced but when I look for the updated board part# CF379-60003 they all say part on board is CF379-60001 and thats what I have. so maybe my wireless board is DOA I just dont know!

The formatter part number you list in your original post is identified in the service manual as for the M477FNW. It is quite possible that the boards are tattooed at the factory to be either wireless yes or wireless no and not be changeable. As well, configuration data is stored in multiple areas and replacing the formatter may still not result in giving you a wireless printer.
