Hi - got a HP M477fdw... it's Networked (Wired Ethernet, IPv4) - Wireless/Fax are disabled - I'm just using it as a Printer/Scanner
It's running on the latest firmware - 20190113
The problem is, that periodically it wakes up from sleep, but the printer's control panel, and the printer's fan stay on continuously - i.e. it won't go back to sleep
(most noticable at night because I can see the glow from the printer's control panel, and also I can hear the printer's fan on continuously)
In the Energy Settings, I have it set to:
Sleep/Auto Off After Inactivity - 30 Minutes
Shut Down After Inactivity - 8 Hours
Delay when ports are active - enabled/checked
I've tried rebooting network/Router, different (new) network cables, also reloading the firmware, pcs are running Win10 x64, but theyre switched off overnight
Is this a known issue?
- any ideas?

I eventually phoned HP Support as the printer was still in warranty...
I told HP Support bloke that the printer was periodically waking-up during the night, and not going back to sleep afterwards...
HP bloke told me that the printer wakes-up periodically to "Calibrate"
I queried about it not going back to sleep, and fans being on continuously, and was told "that's normal" - ****?
I told him that I was using the latest drivers, latest firmware, new network cable, rebooted router etc.
I asked if there was any new/beta firmware available (No)
I was also advised to turn-off the printer after each use ???
Not impressed at all !

Mine has "good" days when it hardly ever has this issue, and "bad" days when it happens often
I've tried disabling all the network protocols that I never use eg Bonjour, AirPrint, 9100, SOAP etc
Also, have you spotted HP have just posted updated drivers ? (Release date: May 20, 2019)
