I have a M477fdw LaserJet and for the last 2-3 weeks every print that comes out will have a repeat of whatever it is printing or printed last on the left side of prints. It is as if one of the rollers has some glue on a spot so that when it rolls the page through it picks up the image and gets it stuck to the other parts of the page in an even spacing.
I tried doing the clean function, switching out all the toner (I use the official HP ones), and printing on heavier stock paper. Nothing seems to work.
I started a support case with HP and they called me and said they would email me so that I can send them some test prints. I never got that email, but sent them scans of it through the website. It's been a few days and I still haven't heard back. I also can't seem to find a phone number I can call.
If anyone here has ever had this problem and know how to solve it I would be greatly appreciate it.
Here is an example. You can see the repeat of a previous print on the left side. It's a little darker in person.

If this printer is less than a year old, or if you have your original CASE ID# - you will want to call HP 1-800-334-5144. This is a volunteer forum and no official warranty work can be done here.
Since you say you swapped out the black toner cartridge, that rules that out as a suspect.
The next likely suspect would be the Fusing unit- which would fall under a warranty replace part, or HP might just ship you a whole unit replacement.
This does also look like it could be some type of contaminate. Have your recently run adhesive backed labels through this printer? perhaps a label peeled off in the machine and is rolled up on the cleaning blade of the transfer belt or in the paper path somehow and could be leaving a residual adhesive behind. The mark appear to get fainter as it repeats down the page- does it do this evertime?

Hi tonerspills. Thanks for the phone number. I was looking for an official HP number and couldn't find one.
It is <1 year old so it is still under warranty.
I do print some AVERY adhesive labels, but never had one get jammed and lost a label when I pulled it out.
I think it gets fainter because the toner(?) or whatever is creating the ghost image is slowly coming off until the next image on the left is picked up again and the cycle repeats. I thought about trying to just run 100s of blank pieces of paper through, but that seems like a huge waste and probably won't even fix it.
I'll definitely give HP a call tomorrow to see what they can do for me.

I just wanted to give an update. I called the 800-334-5144 and the rep just had me print a few pages and send him pictures of them and determined that it was the fuser that's broken. They'll have a tech contact me next week and set up an appointment to have them come to the office to fix it. Since it's still under warranty it'll be free of charge as well. So much easier and quicker than going through the website to create a support ticket that rarely gets looked at.
