HP Enterprise M608
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

M608 printer says load tray 2 with letter size even though letter is in tray and guides are set properly. Also shows on paper select on menu an "i" next to letter, A4, and B5 size and will not acknowledge these sizes in tray. I have replaced the tray, size detect switch, DC Controller, factory reset, updated firmware and still getting same message. These M607,608,609 models are a design change from the older style LaserJets. They feed from the back now and think I may be missing something, sensor, some other paper detect something? Any help appreciated.

Can you print and post the configuration page?

Ok, I am confused, the config page shows Tray 2 as letter size? Where are you seeing issue you described, when you go into the menus on the printer to change paper size or on your driver on your PC?

I'm attaching a few pictures of what I'm seeing. I really appreciate your willingness to help. I'm confused as well. I have tray 2 loaded with letter, guides correctly set, 3rd tray I've used.  Also getting these "i" icons next to other media types. I have another M608 that I have studied up and down and see nothing beyond what I've already done that could cause this?  I've been working on HP's for a long time and typically on the LaserJet models the tray, paper detect switch, or rarely DC controller would resolve but stumped on this one.20191205_091324.jpg20191205_091200.jpg20191205_091126.jpg20191205_091213.jpg20191205_091150.jpg

I feel we may be chasing each other around on this. If letter is loaded does it continue to show empty? We did have an issue with a couple of printers that had erratic tray behaviour caused by the toner cartridge. The last thing you would think to check.

Yes, letter paper is loaded and continues to show empty. It doesnt matter what "size" I select: letter, executive, statement, postcard, A6, 4X6, oficio, etc the display will always reflect the size and type I select but continually shows the yellow ! triangle in upper right screen saying "tray 2 empty: plain, etc". I was hoping your suggestion with toner cartridge would work! I changed cartridge with brand new out of the box HP OEM brand (which this model only uses) and did not resolve. Thanks again for your help and welcome any other suggestions. Its been 3 weeks troubleshooting.
