On this model 54.xx codes indicate problems with sensors and that is likey why you are getting bad print becauase it either cannot calibrate and register color properly or cannot control how much toner is being applied.

The exact errors you are seeing are not listed in the revision of the service manual I have, but generally points to an issue with the ITB sensors. You should thoroughly clean all sensors as a first step.

Most current description I could find:

54.XY.ZZ errors

Description
54.XY.ZZ errors are typically caused by the ITB (Intermediate Transfer Belt) cleaning blade not properly latched into position.
Action
  1. Remove and reseat/relatch the ITB cleaning blade using these instructions.
  2. Perform a Calibrate Now from the control panel as bad calibrations may have occurred while the cleaning blade was not functional. This menu option is located in the Print Quality menu on the control panel of the printer.
