I was printing color documents on my printer when the display prompted me to install an update. I did so and, when I continued printing suddenly I had a 'supply memory error' for all the cartridges. I had just printed a stack of color documents right before the update so I honestly think the update has something to do with it. I removed and reinserted the cartridges, turned the computer on and off, and the supply memory error is still there. Any way to uninstall an update?

I had the same problem ....
select the firmware option, currently there are two listed
select
HP LaserJet Pro Series Firmware Update Utility
Version:20150716Apr 21, 2016
HP's Terms of Use 20150716
follow the install by using the HP download and install assistant
once the older firmware has uploaded and installed on your printer then the problem is solved.

I've got the same problem. Printing successfully for weeks with three non-HP toner cartridges, then after software update the printer suddenly refuses to accept them. No error showing on the one HP cartridge I have.
HP please fix this! Anti-competitive behaviour plus I have urgent documents to print and it's late at night.
Anyoen know how I can back out the software update??

I searched for hours for a solution online and it seems to be a firmware update that knocks out use of non OEM cartridges. I am extremely disappointed since, had I known that I could not use cartridges from other manufacturers, this printer and its toner would be totally out of my budget and I would not have considered it a good buy. Replacing all the cartridges comes in to well over $300.
I did find one forum were people were talking about how they rolled back the firmware update but I don't have the tech savvy to do that.
Bad form HP. This is not a cheap printer and now will be a white elephant to keep up as well.

I, too, have this dreadful problem. Why oh why did I go against my instincts and accept the update!!! Grrrrrrr. Wish I could find out how to roll back the firmware. If anyone can give any links then I will give it at go. Damned HP and their greed.

I used the download manager from HP and it did everything automatically.
Two windows popped up - the download and the download manager.
I did leave it alone for over an hour to make sure it was done before exiting from the download manager. I've messed up before by exiting early when installing something, 😛
