When I print, the colors are almost non-existent.  I have toner - although I can't check the toner on my Mac.  I'm printing over our wireless internet.  The black seems to be printing fine

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer. I read that there is a print quality issue. The black color prints fine.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you using original HP ink toners or refilled ink?
  • Is the printer able to make a photocopy correctly? If yes then it indicates that the printer and the ink toners are fine.

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Please perform the steps as described in detail from this HP document. These steps help in fixing various print quality related issues.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted. All the best! 🙂

Yes it is HP ink.  I tried the steps given and nothing changed?

Help!

I am using wifi to print - does that have anything to do with it?  It used to print fine.

I also don't know how to check the ink levels on my MAC but the printer itself isn't giving any error messages.

Glad to have you back. I truly appreciate your efforts and patience.

You may perform a reset on the printer. A reset will restore the printer to its original factory condition.

I have sent you a private message with the reset instructions.

Hope this helps. Let me know. Good luck! 🙂

Below mentioned are the steps to reset the printer:

  1. Turn On the Product, as soon as the HP logo appears
  2. Press and hold the lower right quadrant of the touchscreen, keep the quadrant depressed.
  3. When the ‘Permanent Storage Init.’ Message appears on the display, release the button.

After resetting the printer, you may make a color copy and check if it works.

If not then it indicates towards a hardware issue. In such a case you  may contact our HP phone support to check the available service options.

All the best! 🙂
