MFP M277dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a MFP m277dw and today its started boot-loops with error 79. I already have tested a couple of things since internet mentioned that a corrupt print job could cause this.

What I did was a factory reset (check youtube how to perform that during boot of your printer.

Turned off all computers and made sure that no printjob was somewhere hanging.

When I power on the printer without the LAN cable connected the printer boots and everything looks fine. When I connect the LAN cable the error 79 pops up and boot-loops remains with this error. Note that no computers are powered during this test. I tried to update the device firmware via the menu without success, it looks like when connecting to the update server something causes this error.
Also I did a complete network equipment reset (turned off all switches, modems, etc) without any success.

Please help!

In the mean time I have solved my problem. The device I have had a firmware date of something like 2018. When disabling IPv6 and connecting LAN my printer gave the error 79 and boot-loops with that error.

So I setup my phone as hot-spot and connected my printer via this WiFi network to get the firmware update (dates something like 201904). After this update I kept IPv6 disabled and connected my LAN again and disabled WiFi and problem seems to be solved. I am able to print again and no more boot-loop.

Hello,

I'd recommend you to try the below steps.

Power Off the Printer.

Unplug the LAN cable from back of the printer.

Wait for 30 seconds and then Power On the printer.

Once the printer is ready, we need to disable the IPv6 on the printer.

On the printer front panel go to Setup Menu > Network Setup > Network Services > IPv6 > Off Now go ahead and connect the LAN cable. Try printing.

Let me know if the above steps worked.

@Jabzi,

I found indeed earlier today that disabling IPv6 might helped, and switched that off a while ago. Printer was disconnected during the day from LAN, just plugged in the LAN cable and the error pops up almost immediately.

@Jabzi,

It still doesn't work!

I have switched off Ipv6, set a manual IPv4 address also does not change anything.
I have changed the IPv6 settings in my modem from Stateless to Stateful (unfortunately not able to disable IPv6 in the modem).

I might have old firmware on my printer, is there a way to update firmware using USB?
