my laser jet 1012 squeals when it starts printing. how do I stop it?

The squealing could be any number of things, from a bad shaft bushing somewhere, the fuser, or even the toner cartridge. You can try a different toner cartridge to test for that option. It would be difficult to track down where it might be from. You could try lightly oiling all the shaft bushings you can find. The last would be to replace the fuser.
