HP Photosmart 7520
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

My HP 7520 doesn't recognize printer cartridges. They are all full - I can see all the ink in them! But the ink levels for magenta, cyan, and yellow all have the yellow triangles with the !!!!!'s in them on the Esttimated Ink Levels page. The black ink cartridge has a blue circle with a question mark in the middle. Like I said - all ink cartridges are completely full!

Also, the printer prints streaked pages. It's like it's missing every 2nd-4th line of the document!! How do I get the printer to recognize the cartidges, and to print without streaks?

Thanks!

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! After reading your post I see that you are getting cartridge missing issue on HP Photosmart 7520 printer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.

Reset the printer.

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  2. With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

  7. If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.

Clean the cartridge and printhead.

  • Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the center of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.
  • Remove all of the cartridges, and then place them on a piece of paper with the ink nozzles pointing up.
  • Lift the latch handle on the carriage until it stops.
  • Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth.
  • Use the damp cloth to wipe the electrical contacts from the bottom to the top. Do not go past the edge between the electrical contacts and the ink nozzles. Repeat this motion until no ink appears on the cloth.
  • Dry the previously cleaned areas with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.

Remove and reseat the cartridges.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

I tried the suggestion(s) in the forum and nothing is working.  I have installed TWO brand-new HP black cartridges, and the Photosmart 7520 did not recognize either.

Very frustrating.

I've had this printer quite a while, so I know HOW to insert a cartridge!!!
