Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i was printing some documents on both sides and it was being done automatically. i tried to print another document and to my surprise it printed on one side and the instriction was to mannually add the paper to flip. i put in the paper as instucted and pressed ok but the printer did not print the document. what i resorted to was to print on one side only.

i have checked my settings and set the printer to default factory setting already. i have turned the machine on and off several times.

Hi @TAMANI,

Have you made any changes recently to your PC or printer?

Double check the settings for printing in duplex mode, both at your printer and at your PC.

Check the default printing at your printer. Also check the default printing from your driver at your PC.

See if the application through which you send print jobs give you the option to print in duplex mode.

If there is no duplex mode available from your driver and you can't set it up again, I would suggest to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.

I 'll be waiting for any updates you give us. I hope that helps.

Cheers!

Your description and symptoms imply that:

  • The printer includes a physical duplex unit.

  • The driver used to know about this, and hence generated jobs assuming 'automatic' duplexing (where the job contains instructions to the printer to use the duplex unit).

  • The driver is no longer aware that the duplkex unit ifs present, and hence generates jobs assuming 'manual' duplexing (where one side is printed, a prompt should be issued to put the printed papers back in the input tray, then the other sides are printed).

Note that the 'automatic discovery' feature used by some drivers on installation (or update) doesn't always work; ensure that the driver knows that a duplex unit is present on the printer (assuming that one is present):

  • For the printer instance in question, bring up the Printer properties dialogue.
  • Select the Device settings tab.
  • Ensure that the duplex unit is set to Installed rather than Not installed.

You'll probably need to be logged in with administrator credentials in order to change the device settings.
