After I exausted the starter cartridge.   I bought the extended life cartrdidge, a CF210X for my printer from Staples.com.     When I tried to register the cartridge the HP Status and Alerts wouldn't let me becuase it said the cartridge was not authorized.    After printing approximately 40 pages my printer started to only printed black pages.    I tried to run cleaner sheets through and still got the same result.  Any ideas why this is happening?

I believe this is a replacement cartridge for your printer (not original). What i think is that the cartridge is not getting the charge it should to develop the image.Try and remove the cartridge ,make sure all packing material has been removed shake the cartridge from side to side and try again.I hope this will help.

Return the cartridge to Staples as defective.  Ask for a replacement.  They should be happy to oblige without much fuss.

Problem is I've had this cartridge since September.  Staples is return policy is generous but not THAT generous.  Is this an I can return to HP directly?
