HP Laser Jet 8100 DN
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to install a HP 8100 DN on my Dell Inspiron 3847 with NO LUCK.  I am using a parallel cable to the USB 2.0 port.

When I plug in the printer to the USB port and go to Devises and Printers it is not shown as a printer but as an "unspecified"

USB Printing Support.  Then when I try to print a test page I get an error message saying that the printer is an older model and won't work in a 3.0 USB port and I should change it to a 2.0 port.  BUT, it's already in a 2.0 port.

I really need some sound advise here.  I really need for this printer to work.  I went to the HP website and tried to download the Universal Driver but that didn't work.

Help.

First off you are not in a 2.0 USB port.  Your adapter is a 2.0 usb device and you are plugging it into the computer's 3.0 usb port.  Most port are downward compatible but not all.  Maybe there is another way.  Do you have a router that you use for internet and is it located in the same room as the printer.  If it is the printer should have a network card and you should be able to connect the printer to the router, do a cold reset so it finds a good ip address and then use that ip address to connect the printer to the computer through the network.

Professor,

It worked Great until I turned off the printer.  Now, after several uninstalls and re-installs, I can't get the computer to reconize the printer.  When I run "trouble shooter" I get error 0X830C010B, I have tried the fix for this error where I uncheck the SNMP status enable and still nothing.  I have done several "cold starts on the printer, pc and router to no avail.  Can you offer any suggestions at all??

Thank you for your time
