HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is there an addon card/device that can be installed to add wifi to HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn? I know in past older HPs you had the option to do that on a few.  I was hoping for a Jet Direct Wireless but none seem to be compatible.  When I purchased it I believed it came with wireless, like almost every other MFP in the HP line.  I need something that will allow the printer to be accessed wirelessly so the rest of the family can use the printer.

Quick question: Does your family connect via wireless to the same router that you are connecting the printer to via wired? If so, you do not need wireless. Any device connected to the same router will be accessible by either wired or wireless devices. You would really only need wireless if they had phones that were not connecting to your internal wireless system.

This is one of the most common misconceptions we run into in configuring customer's systems.  I would try that first before you spend time and money on a wireless when it is very likely you do not need it.

The wired router is downstairs and my office is upstairs.  I connect wirelessly and the printer is connected via USB to my computer.  So I can print but they cannot.  I thought about moving the printer downstairs but no room where it would need to be.

You could share the USB as a network printer as an option. If you do need wireless, almost any wireless to USB print server should work (linksys, tplink, etc), however you may be limited to printing only, I have run into the issue where scanning software just will not work.

You could also consider powerline ethernet to get the signal from the router to the printer.
