LaserJet P1006
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Recently  connected P1006 to a network.  Got error message that the printer wants me to "Enter your name and Password for the HP LasetJet P1006."  I didn't even know the printer HAD a password.  I am attempting to connect a MacBook Pro.  I have previously connected a Dell Notebook and it didn't ask for an ID or a password and prints from the HP 1006 just fine.  Also, works when directly connected.  I tried "admin" for ID and password.  No luck.

Hi,

The P1006 is not a network printer.

 

If you connect to a printer shared from a Windows PC you are likely being required for your Windows credentials to access the shared printer:
