I have been using an HP LaserJet 2100 for years without problems. Today I put in a new toner cartridge. The whole page is smeared. I have done the Engine Cleaning. I have done the Toner Cartidge Cleaning. I have removed the toner cartridge and wiped out any residue - I did not see any - as per instructions in my manual.
I still an getting a black smear from top to bottom of the page.
The only thing that has changed in the last day is that I put in a new toner cartriridge. I was careful to buy an HP cartidge.
What has gone wrong?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Carole

Your problem is even hp toners for this printer are now very old. Odds are the box was blue and white and not black and white. If blue and white that toner is at least 10 years old. Toners have a wiper blade which over time goes bad even if the cartridge is not used. If the box was black and white call hp and try to get them to replace the toner.
