OfficeJet 3830 Series Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am having trouble with my new Office Jet 3080 Series printer. I installed it last week, and it would not print in color from my Dell Laptop running Windows 10. I could print from my phone to the device in color however. I came here to look for a solution, and it told me to install a universal software/driver for the printer, and uninstall what I previously installed. I did that, and then the printer did not connect to my laptop at all, I was not able to print anything. I uninstalled the universal driver, and then reinstalled the driver that the paperwork that came with the printer told me to install, and it worked!

Today (only a few days later), I turn on my printer to print something from my laptop, and it is back to only printing black and white. All I did was turn my printer off for a few days, and turn it back on, and it no longer functions.

This has been incredibly frustrating, and I've scoured these help boards for assistance. Anyone with advice would be welcome!

Two possible issues:

1. The driver is defaulted to monochrome printing. on your computer: controlpanel>devices and printers> then right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on preferences button near bottom of window and then click on color tab and make sure it is not set to default grey scale.

2. If you do not see a color tab in step 1 then likely the printer was not detected as a color device. Go to control panel>devices and printers>right click printer icon and select printer properties again. This time select device settings tab across the top. Scroll down until you see device type and change from auto or monochrome to color.

Hi, thanks for your response!

For solution 1, I don't have a color tab to choose from in that area.

For solution 2, I also don't have that area to choose from. Mine just looks like this:
