Hello @SvenOlov,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see your Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw have an error on initial installation of this application. I would like to try and assist with that.

  1. HP Toner Cartridge Authentication is free software from HP that validates that the installed cartridge(s) are Original HP print cartridges. Customers will have improved visibility into the provenance of their cartridges, thus helping them avoid becoming victims of fraud or counterfeit.

  2. This application is available as a software application, but in some cases, it may also require a printer firmware upgrade.

  3. More information and the software application download is available at www.hp.com/go/TonerCheck.

For more information click here and go through: What are the benefits of using Original HP LaserJet Print Cartridges over non-HP Cartridges?

It seems there is no communication between the printer and your computer.

Follow the below-mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Reset the printer and check the connection status

Resetting the printer can help restore a connection to the computer.

  1. If the printer is off, turn on the printer, and then check the status of the printer.

    • If the printer starts printing jobs from the print queue, your printer is clearing out queued print jobs and is online. You can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer goes to an idle state after its startup routine, it might be online.

    • If the computer still shows the printer as offline, continue using these steps.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Unplug the printer power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 60 seconds. Restart the computer while you are waiting.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  7. If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

  8. Make sure the printer is connected to the computer or the network.

    • Wireless network connection: On the printer, open the Wireless network or Settings menu to make sure the wireless signal is turned on. Make sure the light next to the Wireless icon  is on and steady.

Then run the toner check application.

Let me know how it goes.

If you require further assistance, I will gladly do all I can to help you.

Have a great day!

Cheers!

The printer is on-line. It is connected via Wifi to my local network. So is also the PC. And a couple of laptops where the printer has also been installed. I have tried to print via e-mail and it works.

But the Toner Check still said it was not connected to Internet.

But the App has however today stopped the annoying opening every time I use the printer. It has either given up or sent the information without me knowing about it.

By the way, the link to www.hp.com/go/TonerCheck you gave doesn't work.

Hello @SvenOlov,

Thanks for the super quick reply.

First off, all, it is a genuine pleasure to work with you.

Can you please let me know if you are able to make a copy on your printer(standalone).

I did a double check on the printer s/w, the particular s/w your using is not authenticated for your printer.

Your printer is not listed in HP Cartridge Authentication Software - Supported Printers and Cartridge Compatibility. Click here to check.

Uninstall complete s/w of your printer from programs and features. Click here to download the latest version s/w.

Let me know how it goes!

I will gladly do all I can to help you.

Have a great day!

Cheers!

Hej

First of all there are no problem with taking copies. I have also tried both printing via email och scanning to email. Both works without problem. The printer has no problems with it's Internet-connection.

The toner cartridges used are those provided with the printer when it was delivered early this week directly från HP Sales in Sweden.

The software used are the software the printer downloads from HP when installed (I have not used the CD).

When using the HP software HP Print and Scan Doctor there are no problems with the printer.

As I said the link you provided for www.hp.com/go/TonerCheck doesn't work. But starting the HP Status Alert software via the .exe file it doesn't indicate any problems. Se picture.

My guess, as it doesn't pop up anymore is that the verification has been made in the background.

So, I rest here.

Thanks for trying to help me.
