Hi @Mammoth991,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the black ink on your HP 2700 series printer is not printing even though the cartridge is showing as full, please follow the recommended troubleshooting steps below:

1. Clean the Printhead

  1. Load plain white paper into the input tray.
  2. Open the HP App.
  3. Select your printer.
  4. Go to Diagnostics or Tools
  5. Select Print Quality Tools
  6. Click Clean Printhead.
    Examples of a test page

A test page will print. Check the black section on the page.

  • If black prints normally, the issue is resolved.
  • If black is still missing, perform the second-level and third-level cleaning when prompted.

Note: If the printhead is heavily clogged, wait at least 30 minutes before running another cleaning cycle.

2. Check the Ink Cartridge

  1. Verify you are using a genuine HP cartridge
  2. Remove the black cartridge and reinstall it firmly.
  3. Confirm all protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.
  4. Check the estimated ink levels in the HP App.

Even if the cartridge shows as full, reinstalling it can help ensure proper contact.

3. Clean Ink Smears

  1. Open the HP App.
  2. Select your printer.
  3. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings
  4. Open Tools or Print Quality Toolbox
  5. Run the Clean Smear utility.

4. Print and Align the Printer

  1. Load plain white paper.
  2. Open the HP App.
  3. Select Print Quality Tools
  4. Click Align Printheads
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.
