the plastic tabs have come out of the slots and the metal springy hinge has come out as well, how do I re-attach them?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I understand the plastic tabs have come out of the slots and the metal spring hinge is off as well, you would like to know how to reattach the lid.
Because it is not a replaceable part, there is no mention of removing or reattaching the scanner lid, I was able to find this document which you may find helpful: How to Clean the Scanner Glass
This shows you the tools needed to remove and some images which I am sure could help!

thanks for the help, we were able to re-attach the plastic hinges by holding the cover at a 90 degree angle and pop them both back in at the same time. However, the metal springy tab is not put back in, hopefully that is a safety feature, the scanner works without it.
