HP Laserjet 2200DN
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

We have an office network set up via the router for 2 computers to share a laserjet printer.  We changed the telephone line the Broadband came in on and when Talktalk fitted it they insisted on a new router.  The 2 Computers both show on the new router but the Printer does not.  If I go into the Router online, it shows under LAN interface that the device is connected to the port, but under LAN Devises it just shows the 2 computers.

Please can someone help to configure this as Need to get this up and running.

All devices are hard wired by ethernet cables, and the Printer dates from around 2001 ( I know it is old but it works brilliantly)

I dont know the Printers IP address (if it has one) or a Mac address.

Hi

It will probably be a setting in the Router/Modem

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Check-your-router-setup/ta-p/2204690

So which one is it?

Perhaps open a browser and type this address 192.168.1.1 and hopefully the screen will be understandable.

If in doubt please ask.

Likely you have the network card in the printer set for manual IP address. If you hold down the go/ok button on the printer for a few seconds the printer should print a config page that will show the network address. That series usually shipped with a JetDirect  615 which fail often so it us possible the card is dead and needs to be replaced.

Hi  Thank you for replying, I have already been in to the router settings that is where I can see it connected on the to the port, but the router will not recognise it as a devise for the network.

The printer was working up until the router was fitted, so I am hoping it is just a case of finding either the Mac address so I can manually add the printer or the IP address.

I could be wrong this is just what I have picked up after spending 3 days searching the net

Hi

You may not be wrong, but are you right?

If you can see the IP address then the printer is connected.

So a ping to it may help. Also remove the printer and re-install?

What was the old network range?

Remove the network card from the printer and you will find a label on it with the MAC address on it. However I again caution that if you have a JetDirect 615N there is a good chance it has failed.
