Previous solution only worked temporarily, for several hours, then reverted to continuously printing the error. I reran the solution and again it only lasted several hours. It started printing the error on it's own. I was NOT using the computer or printer. Is there a way to remove allof the printer spooler data and start fresh by importing the software all new? Would something like that help?

Thanks, I'll see if I can follow those instructions and install it that way.

I only have 32 bit, but I downloaded the 64 bit file and ran the program and had no problem having the files unzip into a directory. What I did was rename the default directory that comes up to C:\hptest You could try that and if you still get the error as after it unzips it should start the install program, I would download again.

You still have to associate the printer with the driver. If you go to the properties of the driver for the current printer you will still it is still the pcl6 driver. When you ran the program after the unzip it gives you choices on how you want to load the driver and gives you the add printer screen. You should choose the upper most selection and then next and then choose the same port that is the port for your current printer and after it loads when you go to print you choose the universal printer from the choices of printers on your computer or just go into devices and printers and make the universal ps printer the default printer. What you can do now is go into devices and printers, right click on the universal printer icon and scroll down to the first properties and left click. Now click on ports and change the check mark to the port currently being used by your printer. After you do this and save it when you go to print, choose the universal printer instead of your current printer and it should print to your printer.
