Hello, why is the page yield different between these two printers? And why are the cartridges "different"? Since these printers are basically the same, I would expect the page yield to be the same. The newer M283fdw has a lower page yield. Looks like a step backwards.

HP Color LaserJet Pro M281fdw --> Cartridge HP 203A --> Page yield 1400 pages

HP Color LaserJet Pro M283fdw --> Cartridge HP 206A --> Page yield 1350 pages

Thank you for your explanation.

Lower page yield will make customers buy new toners more often = more $€¥£ for the manufacturer.

Yes, it looks it is all about money.

@HP, any comment?

In all fairness, HP may have found that average yields were lower than they expected when units were used in the real world and lowered the ratings to reflect that on the new models to set more realistic expectations for customers.

Yes, I hope this is the reason for the lower page yield but I doubt... Isn't there a clear protocol at HP the determine the page yield from a printer? So it is possible to compare the page yield from different printers... Even the real world page yield may be different, the protocol page yield would not change.

Also I am wondering why the cartridges are not the same since these 2 printers are basically the same. Meaning the older cartridge is not compatible with the newer printer, right? Any explanation?
