Photosmart C6380
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I  attempt to print a photo, the images are washed out, unless I print from Microsoft Word.  If I use any Windows print options, it defaults to the photo tray and quality is poor.

i have copied pictures into Wrod and put 8 1/2 x 11 photo paper into the main tray and the photos are great.  You just waste a large sheet for a small picture.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips, Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I understand, you are able to print photos from Microsoft word but not other Windows application. This looks like a software issue. To fix this issue, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.

Use the method below to remove all existing print drivers installed on your PC:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Apps & features.
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Printers &Scanners
5.) In the Printers &Scanners windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Once the drivers are removed, download and install the software and driver:

Thank you for your assistance.  I performed the steps as you directed but the results are the same.  I cannot print photos unless they come from Microsoft Word.  Moreover if I resize the photos and send them to the photo tray, even with Word they are washed out.  If I scale them back and print on 8 1/2 x 11 photo paper the photos are good but I waste the bulk of the paper.

I am using HP Premium Plus photo paper and HP ink so there should be no reason that prictures would not print via the tray. I have tried several applications but the only way to get an acceptable quality photo is via Word.

Thanks for the response.

Did you try to install the full feature driver as instructed by @Roopa-S?

Is it happening even after doing that?

Let me know. 🙂

Did not resolve the issue.  Have anew print head in order.  If that doesn't help, I am out of ideas.

Since you can print photos from Microsoft Word, I don't think this is a printhead issue.

Did you try printing from Microsoft paint?

Do you have another PC or a smart phone to print from?

Found a youtube video on hidden menus and a similar document outlining how to use them.  I went into the support option, I believe and performed a partial reset.  I can no print photos directly from multiple applications to the photo tray.

Thanks.

I am glad that you were able to fix the issue after partial reset. It'll feel great if you could write back with any queries in the future.

Have a Wonderful Day!
