Color Laser Jet 1600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I could use some help.

My Laser Jet just threw up over itself and I'm hoping I can clean it up. Problem is I have no idea how to fix it so I'm reaching out to the expert community.

This is a great printer, and it's been used very little. I've been its only owner.

Should I attempt this myself or I'm open to suggestions.  Thank you.

Please take a look:

This is the problem! This is the problem!

that type of problem is caused by a failed toner cartridge, in this case the magenta. You can gently wipe the excess toner off with a soft lint free cloth. Do not vacuum with a standard vacuum as the toner particles will just pass through and go into your environment for you to inhale. The belt would also likely clean up once you replace the cartridge and run some pages.

Thank you! I’ll try a microfiber cloth, then, I guess throw the cloth out...cannot imagine getting that toner out of the cloth!

Knowing that the problem is caused by the toner cartridge, I don’t mind sinking the $ into a new set of cartridges. I just didn’t want to put the money into the cartridges to later find out the problem was mechanical in nature and cheaper to buy a new printer!

I guess it’s time to sacrifice some micro fibers!

I’ll return with my outcome.

Again, thank you.
