toner smears on labels but not plain paper; have changed paper type and density several times but does not help.   tried letting it dry overnight, Help!

the issue could be the paper (labels) itself.  Adjusting the paper type changes the temp at which the fuser binds the toner to the paper.  If thats not working, i'd try a different batch of labels and see if the issue continues.  I've seen this happen to many customers.  It may very well be the same labels you've used forever, but how its made & materials used do change & sometimes they dont jive with the pritner.  Toner will not dry either, it has to be heated onto the paper, unlike ink cartridges, which will dry.   its possible the fuser could be defective, but since you're not getting the issue w/ other paper types, i'd really suspect that batch of labels.
