Printer ejects paper with a vertical crease about 3.5 inches from the right sigde of paper margin.  Have tried different paper, have replaced all toner cartridges, have checked the paper path.    I also took someone's suggestion and interrupted a print job before it got to the fuser unit (by opening the front cover right after the paper is pulled into the printer).  It apparently isn't caused by the fuser, as there were still creases.

The crease actually seems to be caused by dragging on something internally.  The drum perhaps??

Hi @Kathylj,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with the printer creases paper. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution. I'll need a few more details:

Have you checked for any obstructions inside the printer?

Are you able to make a copy from the printer?

Have you tried to clean the rollers?

Are you able to move the carriage freely?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

If this is to do with the Horizontal streaks, then this could be an issue with the drivers or with the cartridge itself, I would suggest you clean the cartridge contacts.

If the issue is to do with Vertical streaks, then this could be an issue with the Hardware, I would suggest you try to clean the rollers as well as scanner glass.

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would personally suggest this could be a possible printer hardware. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for available service related options. If your product is out of warranty, please choose paid options to get the tech support number.

Thank you so much for your reply.  Unfortunately, the printer looks fine as far as obstructions, rollers, carriage, etc. go.  I tried the hard reset you suggested and that did not fix the problem.  The streaks are vertical, and you suggest it might be printer hardware.  I may try the tech support option.  We are out of warranty, unfortunately.  Thank you again.

I recently had what sounds like the same problem.  A crease on the righthand side.  It ended up being a roller that had slightly wedged out of its groove.  The roller would spin, but it would not "float" as the paper was coming out.  I have attached photos of the crease and the problem area.  I simply moved the pin back in its groove and it works fine now.printer.jpgpapercrease.jpg

Hi

I had a simular problem where the paper kept coming out with a crease on it.

I`ve sorted the problem out after a lot of messing about with my computer / printer.

I clicked onto printer settings, then went onto Printer Preferences, and I found my Media setting had gone onto Photo finish

(I did`nt  think I had done it) I put it back on Plain Paper setting.

Ha presto it works properly again and has speeded up to.
