Hi @AliB87,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

An E0 error on an HP printer indicates an unusable or unrecognised ink cartridge. It usually means the cartridges are missing, damaged, incorrectly placed (e.g., color on the left, black on the right), or still have protective shipping tape attached.

Follow these steps to quickly clear the error:

1. Reseat the Cartridges

A loose cartridge can easily trigger an E0 error.

  • Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move to the centre.

  • Press down lightly on the cartridge to release it and slide it out.

  • Check that color goes into the left slot and the black goes into the right slot.

  • Slide the cartridge in and push it firmly until it clicks or snaps into place.

  • Close the door and press the Cancel (X) button on the printer control panel.

2. Check for Protective Tape:

New HP cartridges have protective orange tape or film covering the copper contacts and nozzles.

  • Remove the cartridge and check for any plastic film or orange tape.

  • Peel off any remaining tape covering the copper contacts or ink nozzles.

  • Reinstall the cartridge and try printing again.

3. Clean the Electrical Contacts:

If there is ink, dust, or debris on the gold/copper contacts, the printer cannot read the cartridge.

  • Remove the ink cartridge.

  • Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.

  • Let the contacts dry for a few minutes, reinsert the cartridges, and close the access door.

4. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Leave the printer powered on and disconnect the power cord from the back.

  • Unplug the other end of the cord from the wall outlet.

  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
