Looking for a key to the meaning of the lower case letters following a printer's name (number).

I'm thinking "n" means network and "w" means wireless.  But, there are others such as "f" and "d".

You are correct in surmising that (certainly with HP LaserJet devices):

n = network

w = wireless

Other common suffix letters are:

f = fax

d = duplex

t = (extra) tray

x = equivalent to dtn

h = hard disk
