Laser Jet P1102w

Hi,

Whenever I try to plug the USB into my computer to print something, a message will pop up saying "The device you connected is not readable by this computor" It has two options - ignore or eject. If I ignore the message, the printer appears to be offline. If I eject, well, then it is ejected.

My computer is not the only one to experience this problem. Two other laptops were discovered to get the same message. They are all three Macbooks.

We have had this printer for two years now and this has just started happening. The printer has also had a lot of other issues that we have pushed through, and it seems like a shame to quit on her now; please help.

Thanks!

Greetings @KirsiAS,

Thanks for accessing the HP Support Forums for extra support! I see that you are experiencing issues with the printer being recognized. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.

Something on the Mac is recognizing the printer as a disk drive. Since the printer has a feature called Smart Install, which only installs the printer software automatically on Windows.

Try disconnecting everything, do a complete shut down on the printer, then connect the USB cable to the Mac while the printer is still off, then start the printer.

Do you have Parallels installed on the Mac?

Temporarily turn off the Parallels, so the Smart Install won't be recognized on the Mac.

If you don't have Parallels then we will need to disable the Smart Install in order to install the printer on the Mac.
